GUNUNGKIDUL, August 13, 2026 – In an effort to strengthen academic quality and operational readiness for teaching and learning, the Department of Soil Science held an Academic Workshop (Konsinyering) on Thursday, August 13, 2026. The intensive meeting, hosted at Hotel Santika Gunungkidul, brought together faculty members from the Department of Soil Science to align quality assurance strategies and upcoming curricula.

The workshop was led by the Head of the Soil Science Department, Dr. Makruf Nurudin, S.P., M.P., alongside the Department Secretary, Dr. Agr. Cahyo Wulandari, S.P., M.P., the Head of the Undergraduate Program, Nur ‘Ainun Harlin Jennie Pulungan, S.Si., M.Sc., Ph.D., and the Head of the Master’s Program, Prof. Dr. Ir. Benito Heru Purwanto, M.P., M.Agr.Sc. Discussions focused on three crucial agendas: updating the curriculum and Semester Learning Plan (RPKPS), coordinating teaching assignments and team teaching, and technical preparations for the Internal Quality Accreditation (AMI) visitation.

During his address, Dr. Makruf Nurudin emphasized the importance of synergy among faculty members in designing RPKPS that are adaptive to the latest developments in soil science and modern industry needs. Effective team teaching distribution is expected to maintain high teaching standards across both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Meanwhile, preparations for the AMI visitation serve as a key milestone to ensure all academic documentation and instructional processes meet top-tier quality assurance benchmarks.

This strategic workshop aligns with the department’s commitment to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4 (Quality Education), by refining curricula and setting inclusive, relevant learning standards. Furthermore, bolstering academic capacity in soil science reinforces SDG 15 (Life on Land) and SDG 2 (Zero Hunger), as sustainable soil resource management remains fundamental to securing national food security and environmental conservation.
