Soil Anniversary 2025 was once again held as an annual agenda of the extended family of the Department of Soil Science, Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM). This event served as a moment of togetherness as well as a reflection on the long journey of the Soil Science Study Program in advancing education, research, and community service. The main event, held on 29 November 2025, was attended by students, alumni, and members of the academic community and took place in a warm and enthusiastic atmosphere.

As the culmination of a series of activities conducted beforehand, Soil Anniversary 2025 featured various preliminary agendas and supporting programs that encouraged active participation from attendees. The presence of diverse elements of the academic community reflected the strong attention and support for this event, while also strengthening solidarity and academic networking within the campus environment.

This year’s celebration was attended by lecturers of the Department of Soil Science UGM as well as participants from various cohorts, adding to the vibrancy and solemnity of the occasion. In addition, the event was attended by representatives of the Soil Science Student Association (HIMILTA) of UPN Veteran Yogyakarta and the Soil Science Student Association (KMIT) of Universitas Sebelas Maret, as a form of synergy and inter-university collaboration. In her remarks, Dr. Firdausi expressed the hope that the Soil Science Student Community would continue to transform in line with the development of the times, remaining active and innovative in facing future challenges.

Beyond serving as a forum for strengthening ties, Soil Anniversary 2025 also reaffirmed the commitment of the Department of Soil Science UGM to supporting the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly those aligned with the commemoration of World Soil Day. Through educational activities and the strengthening of awareness regarding the importance of soil conservation, this event contributed to the achievement of SDG 15 (Life on Land) and SDG 4 (Quality Education), in line with efforts to promote sustainable soil resource management.
