Guest Lecture – Prof. Stefaan De Neve – Professor in Ghent University, Belgium. “Scientific Writing And Publication Clinic – For Graduate Student” and “The Essential Of Soil Fertility – For Bachelor Student”.

This guest lecture was filled by Prof. Stefaan De Neve from the Faculty of Bioscience Engineering, Ghent University, Belgium. On the sidelines of his visit to establish cooperation with Soil Department, he had the opportunity to give public lectures to undergraduate students and post-graduate students (S2 and S3) of the Department. This public lecture was moderated by Dr. Benito Heru Purwanto, M.Agr as a Head of the Soil Department.

This guest lecture was divided into 2 sessions. The first session is on Wednesday, November 21, 2018. Guest lectures on this session had a theme of Soil Fertility. This lecture is given to undegraduate students of Soil Department who are currently taking Soil Fertility courses this semester. read more

Preliminary Meeting – Collaborative Research Collaboration on Biochar

On November 20, 2018 a preliminary meeting was held on collaborative research cooperation related to Biochar at the Dean’s Meeting Room of Faculty of Agriculture UGM. This meeting is a follow-up to collaborative project proposals that have been prepared previously. This collaboration was followed not only by academics but also by the private sector as a material provider (biochar).

The team involved in the Biochar research collaboration was the Department of Soil of Gadjah Mada University represented by Dr. Benito Heru Purwanto, M.Agr. along with several Department staff; Syah Kuala University Soil Science Study Program represented by Prof. Dr. Ir. Darusman, M.Sc .; Agrotechnology Study Program at Udayana University represented by Dr. Ir. Anak Agung Wife Kesumadewi; Andalas University Department, represented by Prof. Dr. Ir. Herviyanti; Ghent University Faculty of Bioscience Engineering, represented by Prof. Stefaan De Neve; and Bambu Nusa Verde represented by Marc Pieter. read more

Guest Lecture – Dr. Iin P. Handayani – Professor from Murray State University, Kentucky, USA “Agriculture 4 0: Securing Future Agri-Food Systems Through Education & Technology”

This guest lecture was t by taught by Dr. Iin P. Handayani who is currently a professor at Murray State University, Kentucky, USA. She is an alumni of the Department of Soil Science. She is currently engaged in agronomy at the Hutson School of Agriculture, Murray State University, Kentucky.

During his visit to Yogyakarta this time, he had the opportunity to give public lectures to undergraduate students in Land Conservation and Soil Fertility course as well as postgraduate student of socio-economic agriculture and of plant disease pests. This public lecture was moderated by Nur Ainun H.J. Pulungan, Ph.D as a lecturer at the Land Conservation course at that time. read more

International Seminar – “Organic Agriculture in the Tropics – State-of-the-Art, Challenges, and Opportunity”

The International Seminar with the theme “Organic Agriculture in the Tropics – State-of-the-Art, Challenges, and Opportunities” was successfully held on August 20-24, 2017. The seminar was held at the University Club (UC) Hotel, Gadjah Mada University, Yogyakarta.

The International Seminar activities are held in collaboration with 4 national and international universities and research institutions, namely the UGM Faculty of Agriculture-Yogyakarta, UPN-Yogyakarta Agriculture Faculty, UNS-Solo Agriculture Faculty, Ghent University-Belgium, Bogor Soil Research Institute (Balittan), and also ISOFAR (International Society of Organic Agriculture Research). read more
