This guest lecture was t by taught by Dr. Iin P. Handayani who is currently a professor at Murray State University, Kentucky, USA. She is an alumni of the Department of Soil Science. She is currently engaged in agronomy at the Hutson School of Agriculture, Murray State University, Kentucky.

During his visit to Yogyakarta this time, he had the opportunity to give public lectures to undergraduate students in Land Conservation and Soil Fertility course as well as postgraduate student of socio-economic agriculture and of plant disease pests. This public lecture was moderated by Nur Ainun H.J. Pulungan, Ph.D as a lecturer at the Land Conservation course at that time.

The presentation of Dr. Iin Handayani was entitled Agriculture Era 4.0: Securing Soil Science with Education and Technology. In this public lecture, Dr. Iin explained about technological advances in agriculture. This technological progress is at the same time very demanding that the agricultural sector can develop faster. She stated that we are currently in the industrial era 4.0, which in this era emphasized the digitalization process in various aspects, both in the form of digital supply chains (food), digital products, digital services, digital business models, smart manufacturing, and analytical data and action are at the core of competency.

In this public lecture she also explained the challenges of the world about the comparison of food production and food scarcity. Especially in 2050, we will be faced with the challenges of the world to be able to provide food to the world population which is predicted to amount to more than 9 billion.

In addition, the problem of food scarcity will also be accompanied by problems in agriculture such as climate change, environmental degradation, limited land, and others. Therefore, Dr. Iin explained what the Z generation must do in facing these challenges in order to produce competency, quality and literacy capabilities in this Era 4.0. And the main key that must be developed by Generation Z is the skill in terms of oral communication and collaboration so that it can create a strong personal branding.
